Marcela's notes

I must say I was a bit concerned before the rest of Stream of Passion and I got together to rehearse for the first time. Although the results of the "Embrace the storm" recordings were great there was nothing to assure us that the band would be able to get along in a live situation.

Turns out not only did we get along great, but there was an incredible great chemistry between us; I think it took us all by surprise how quickly we put the songs together and how good it felt when we were together on stage. I think you can definitely see it on this live recording: we gave it all and had a hell of a time in the process!

Marcela's notes

Putting the "Out in the real world" single together was a big challenge. I think we put it all together in around a week or so! Arrangements, recordings, mixing, mastering; all had to be done in a real hurry to comply with the label dates. We were all really proud of ourselves of obtaining such great results in so little time! The non-album tracks turned out to be some of our favorite live moments...

Marcela's notes

There's a saying that for every band to release their 2nd CD is one of the most difficult tasks ever. I couldn't agree more!

There were so many challenges for us with "This sonic landscape". First, it had been such a big while since we released an album that we had all these new musical influences, and it was really hard to take everything we were absorbing and blending it together. Second, it was the first time we used or own recording studio to lay down most of the audio tracks (except for the drums). All the extra available time and freedom gave us a lot of room to experiment, but we had to learn how to do it all by ourselves; plus having too much freedom can be dangerous sometimes, hehe...

But once again, the more difficulties you overcome the sweeter the final reward is. And "This sonic landscape" is an album we're extremely proud of; I feel we all grew as musicians, song writers and performers. We dared to dream and kept challenging ourselves into creating the music we wanted, without any concerns or worries.

Marcela's notes

Recording in "The Human Equation" was already a big dream come true to me. So you can imagine my reaction when Arjen invited me to write a whole album together with him! I was really flattered that he would trust me to give me complete freedom to create all vocal melodies and lyrics for a brand new project, which ended up in the creation of Stream of Passion.

It was a very unusual way of creating an album: exchanging mp3 files over the Internet, sending ideas back and forth; the band was put together by Arjen (also mostly over the Internet) and we didn't get together until the very last stage of recordings. It all sounded like very risky business, but it ended up being absolutely magical.

This album was a big breakthrough for me when it comes to lyrics. Having never before written an album in English, it forced me to be more direct and explicit with my feelings; this eventually lead me into a long journey of introspection...

Marcela's notes

After "The Human Equation" Arjen asked me to create my own vocal arrangement for a new, semi-acoustic version of "Waracle"; this song was originally on the first Ayreon album, "The Final Experiment", which was re-issued in 2005. It was a big honor for me to have him give me the freedom to recreate this song with my own style; I really liked how it turned out!

Marcela's notes

I was familiar with Arjen's music since the "Into the Electric Castle" times. Never I imagined I was one day going to be one of the singers of his amazing rock operas!

Back in 2003 a good friend of mine, Ian Ángeles, told me that Arjen had posted a contest on his website, with the intention of giving an unknown vocalist the chance to sing in Ayreon. So I sent a copy of Elfonía's debut to Holland without any big expectations; but to my surprise a few weeks later Arjen himself sent me an e-mail, telling me that he loved my voice and wanted me to try some of the new tracks.

The rest is history: flew to Holland, recorded at the Electric Castle and had a blast! This was the beginning of a musical collaboration that not only taught me a million things, but has allowed me to live the most wonderful experiences of my life.

Marcela's notes

After parting ways with Hydra I had period of over half a year when I wasn't creating music or performing at all... it was one of the most horrible experiences I've ever been through. It actually hurt to go see a live performance because I longed performing so much.

So then Alejandro (Millán) and I decided to start a new musical project; the main idea was to never put boundaries to the music, and just take the songs we created wherever we felt like taking them. We invested literally every single peso we had, found the most amazing musicians ever and put this album together. It involved a lot of hard work, research and dedication; but we learned so much from making this recording, and the satisfaction of getting that first CD pressing in our hands was priceless!

Marcela's notes

Hydra was the first band I was ever part of; we played together for over 4 years, and this was our only formal release. It was such a great feeling to record these songs! We were for the first time experimenting with different genres, taking risks; to hear the final result on tape was so exciting, as it was to hear "lluvia de rosas negras" on a local radio station for the first time. I'll never forget that!

Originally out only as a cassette tape, this EP is currently out of print; there have been plans to re-release it on CD with some extra tracks, but nothing certain yet.
